A nice day for the movies!!

What a great Monday!  The weather was beautiful, although a little too windy.  I finally had a spare moment and went to the movies today.  I went and saw the latest Denzel Washington movie:

I always enjoy a Denzel Washington movie and this one did not disappoint.  It was inspired by a true story.  It is action-packed and has you at the edge of your seat.  I would definitely recommend this film....especially if you like action movies.
Originally the plan was to go see For Colored Girls but I didn't finish my errands in time so this movie started closest after my last errand was run.  Guess I'll go see For Colored Girls on Thursday.

I heard that Barbra Streisand is going to be on "Oprah" tomorrow.  And she will reunite with Robert Redford on the show, and there will be interviews with some of her other leading men.  Unfortunately, I have to work so I won't see it.  I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to see the re-airing.  I'm SOOOO excited!!!

I am a HUGE fan of Ms Streisand--and The Way We Were is one of my favorite movies.     I also love her movie version of A Star Is Born with Kris Kristofferson (who will be on tomorrow too).  I have the album for this movie and spent lot's of time singing along when I was little.  I know, that's not normal when you're a small child......but I never was that much into kiddie shows, movies and music!!!

Still not liking the fact that Bravo moved Real Housewives of Atlanta to Sunday nights.  I keep thinking I'm forgetting to watch a show on Monday's now!!  But at least I get to watch the new Hawaii Five-O.  Yes, I really do watch some "real" TV!! haha  So, I'm off to watch Dancing With The Stars now.  Who do you think is going to win this season??

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!!

Sade concert tickets and work.......

Happy Friday to all!!  I am in such a good mood today because I was able to get tickets to see:

She is touring in 2011 and part of the tour will stop here in Northern California.  Through Facebook I was able to buy tickets today before they went on sale to the general public on Monday November 15th.  Yippee!!  I have always been a big fan and have wanted to see her in concert but she doesn't tour that often.  I think her last tour was around 10 years ago or so!!  Anyway, the concert isn't until next August in San Jose.  I can't believe I have to wait that long....but I'm sure I'll keep busy until then!

I worked yesterday on my normal day off.  I figured I would only work a couple of hours and then have the rest of the day.  Boy was I wrong!!!!  Apparently yesterday was a holiday??!!  Veteran's Day.  I'm sure everyone knew that except a small group of people including me.  Anyway.....we were sooooo busy from the time I got to work at 8am until I finally left almost 7 hours later!!  Thank goodness the managers fully staffed the day or we would have been in real trouble!!  But it all went smoothly....both employees and customers happy!

As I was getting ready to leave my manager let me know he was going to need me to work some double shifts coming up for a while, if that was alright.  Of course that's alright!  I told him that as long as I get a little break in the middle, I'm fine!!  :)

I was planning on going to the movies yesterday.  When I was asked to work I just thought I would go after my shift.  So when I got home I got myself ready and headed over to the local theater.  Unfortunately for me everyone and their mother decided to go (again.....I forgot it was a holiday) and there wasn't a parking space to be found.  So, I ended up at Starbucks for my Eggnog Latte and then headed over to Target for a little retail therapy!  When I was done spending money I figured I had better eat since I realized I was starving and hadn't eaten all day!!  I didn't feel like waiting--by then I was getting tired--so I did the drive-thru thing at In-N-Out.  You can't go wrong with an In-N-Out burger.......

Hope everyone has had a great week and has a wonderful weekend!!!

A little work rant and some new shoes

It's Wednesday already???  Where does the time go???  Is it just me or does this year seem to be just flying by?!  It's only 6 1/2 weeks until that depressing, or what?!

As usual I've just been working.  It's been crazy busy at work the past couple weeks...both the day shifts and the night shifts.  Believe me....I'm definitely not complaining.  The time flies by at work and then there's the whole money-making thing!!  :)

However......there is one thing I have to complain about.  Several co-workers have been calling in "sick", not showing up, late or leaving early.... Every. Single. Day.  Sometimes several a day!!  I'm just over these people.  I'm really tired of  having to pick up the slack of these inconsiderate employees who cannot see beyond their own wants and needs.  I have a life, too.....and if you slackers haven't noticed (of course they haven't cuz it's NOT about them) I've been sick the past week.  Unlike you, though, I suck it up, take a DayQuil, and get my butt to work.  I don't know about you.....but I have bills to pay.....and as long as I can walk, I'll be working my shift!! Thank goodness MY MOM taught me about having a good work ethic!  Maybe your mom should have done the same........

And speaking about those slackers.....because of them I am picking up yet another extra shift tomorrow (my day off).  Did I have plans?  Yes I actually did.  Does it matter?  Not really.  I mostly make tentative plans because I know things may change due to work and that's okay.  Extra. Money. For. Me.  is how I normally view these situations.  Of course, later on I will have to listen to these same people whine and complain about not having money, etc...... Who's problem is that??  Maybe you shouldn't have gone to the SFGiants World Series parade last week ( I know 1 co-worker for sure who went but told management some other story.  I heard at least 1 or 2 others may have gone too instead of working).  I wanted to go too.....but I'm a little more responsible apparently!!  But then I'm not a 20-something year old still living at home.  I'm a REAL adult!!  But then even when I was that age.....I never acted like that.  Work has always come first.  But then I had an excellent role model ;)

Sorry for the work rant......but it just needed to be said!

Today was another busy one at work.....and, as usual, we were short-staffed and then someone left early due to "personal issues".  I won't even get into what it was ...because it doesn't even matter.  So the rest of us had to work harder.  Oh, well, like I always say:

But one of my co-workers had a birthday today so when a few of us who worked the day shift were done with our shifts we headed over to AppleBee's to celebrate.  It was nice to hang out outside of work.  We had a good time.....and, yes, I did have a drink.  One of the best things to like about AppleBee's is their Bahama Mama.  I haven't had one in soooooo long.  And it was soooooo gooooood!!  I did have some food though since I hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon!

On to a non-work related topic!!  As I wrote before I have been re-evaluating my life and trying to fit a personal life in there somewhere.  Kinda funny considering I always pick up any and all extra shifts asked of me, but......anywho......I am trying to reintroduce exercise into my routine.

The muscles all over my body have been super tight lately.  So I have gone back to daily stretching and yoga exercises.  It has helped some, but I know I need to really exercise!  It is, however, getting me ready for when I am no longer sick....then I can resume a more strenuous exercise routine.  But in the meantime, I decided I needed some new athletic shoes so I went over to the NIKE outlet the other day and bought myself a pair of athletic training shoes:

Nike Womens Air Fly Strong Sister +

I tried on all the athletic training shoes that they had....which, honestly, weren't that many.  These fit me the best. I can't wait to start using them!!

My next goal is to get a new pair of running shoes.  I will be going to my local Fleet Feet store and having them fit me into a pair.  They are awesome at F.F. and my first pair of running shoes were from there.  I will never go anywhere else.  The owner, Carol, is awesome and knows exactly what I need.  If I had gone to her last year instead of just trying to do it on my own, I probably could have saved myself all of the injuries, etc which have plagued me the past few months!!  Like I've said before.....I want to start running again sooooo badly!! I can't wait!!

Well, it's getting late and I have to be at work in the morning.  So, happy Hump Day, Wednesday..........wishing everyone a wonderful week!!

It's time for a little life re-evaluation

It's been 3 weeks since I've posted or even been near my blog.  No excuses.....just a combination of not a lot of time, watching my SFGiants play in the post season (and WIN the 2010 WORLD SERIES) and basically needing a break.  My life hasn't been too exciting of late and I just needed to step back and re-evaluate things.

It seems my life this year has been: (1) until August, I was unemployed so I didn't really do anything or go anywhere since there were limited funds, and (2) now that I'm gainfully employed I am working so much that I am not allowing myself any downtime.  So now here I sit totally exhausted, my body has been warning me, and has now rebelled by allowing germs to invade it and I am now sick with a cold :(

On Wednesday I worked 6am-2:30pm.  I was exhausted as I had worked the night shift on Tuesday and we were very very busy.  We were very very busy on Wednesday all day and when my shift was over I was pooped and I could barely walk.  Just as I was leaving the night manager asked what time I came in and I told him 6am.  He then asked what I was doing that night.... I replied "Uh, watching TV" (cuz you know I love my TV shows).  He asked if I could come back that night for a few hours.  Apparently 3 people called in sick--I heard a couple of them were actually at the SFGiants parade for winning the World Series.  THAT makes me mad because I have been a lifelong fan of the SFGiants and I wanted to go but I knew I had to work and I couldn't do that to my co-workers (plus, I don't like giving up my shifts because that means a loss of $$$$).

Anyway, I said yes and he asked me to come back at 5pm.  I left and kept thinking great a little extra money.....but then I started thinking (as I'm limping to my car) how am I going to be able to work when I can barely walk???? Ran over to Starbucks for my latte then went home and changed my clothes and decided to do a little stretching and yoga.  Well, whatever I did worked because I felt a lot better and was able to walk normally again.  So, off to work I went for the PM shift.  We ended up being a little busy again (yay!!) and I was off by 8:30.  Luckily I had Thursday off so I didn't worry about it

Thursday morning I didn't get to sleep in because I was meeting a friend for coffee at 8:15am after she dropped her youngest daughter at school.  We ended up at Target and Marshall's shopping after getting our Starbucks!!  First, I overslept (right through my alarm!) and I was exhausted ALL day!!  I came home and even though I could barely think or move (don't know how in the world I drove all over town??) I put away all of my Halloween decorations.  I guess I could have left them for another day......but I just couldn't stand looking at them anymore.  Then I realized that I was sick and had a sore throat.  I wanted to do some housework and go to the movies, but I just couldn't do it.  And so I took a nap.....which I never do but I realized I just had to!!

Today I felt the full on effects of a cold :(  I took all of my vitamins and drank a lot of water.  Thursday night I was asleep by about midnight and I slept in until 10:30-11am on Friday morning (that's blasphemous!!! But had to be done).  I could barely get around and was afraid I wasn't going to be able to work so I (thank goodness) found some DayQuil and it kicked in right before I left for work.  Luckily it wasn't that busy tonight and I was home by 9:30.  But I do have to be at work in the morning tomorrow so I had better get to bed or it's gonna be a looong day for me!  I'm thinking some wonton soup from my local Chinese restaurant is in order tomorrow after work.  They have the BEST wonton soup I've ever had!!

So, like I said at the beginning of this post I have been trying to re-evaluate my life and give myself permission to have a life outside of work.  It's been all work and not much play and Tina is a very dull lady at this time.  I spent some time looking up concerts, shows, movies, events, etc.  I also have my cousins wedding next summer that I have to get ready for (and hopefully lose some weight to wear a strapless dress--YIKES!!).  There is so much to do that I have to write things down and plan them out.  I found a few concerts I want to attend and there are a couple of trips I want to plan (short ones to Southern California to see my relatives and a quick one to one of my most fave places:  Las Vegas, NV).

Well, that's all for now.  I will be back soon with more regular posts and get caught up on everyone else's posts as soon as I can.   Hopefully, I will have made some plans to have a life outside of work.  Why is it so difficult for me to to do that??  And, why do I feel so guilty about it??  I think because of the uncertainty of the economy the past couple of years I never want to be unemployed again and have to worry about money.  I'm trying to be a good girl and save as much money as I can, but at the expense of my life?? Or my happiness???  Somehow I don't think it's worth it.  Let's hope I can figure it out.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Until next time.........wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!!
